Programme Overview

This Level 2 apprenticeship is designed for those starting a career in pharmacy support roles. Learners will gain the knowledge and practical experience needed to support the preparation and supply of medicines, maintain records, and assist with pharmacy operations all while working under the supervision of a registered pharmacist. The programme blends real-world learning with structured training to prepare individuals for a vital role in healthcare.

Assessment

Learners will complete a Gateway Review before their End-Point Assessment (EPA), which includes:

Knowledge Test – a multiple-choice exam to assess understanding of pharmacy practices and procedures

Observation with Q&A – a practical observation in the workplace with follow-up questions

Professional Discussion – based on a portfolio of evidence demonstrating competence in the role

Successful apprentices will be awarded the Level 2 Pharmacy Services Assistant Apprenticeship Standard, recognised across the pharmacy and healthcare sectors.
