Grow Your Business
business really needs

Hiring an apprentice is a smart way to develop talent tailored to your business. Apprentices bring fresh energy, new ideas, and a willingness to learn, all while contributing to day-to-day operations. You can shape their skills to meet your specific needs, filling skills gaps and building loyalty from the ground up. With government funding available and flexible training support, apprenticeships offer real value and long-term return on investment.

Funding

Hiring an apprentice is not only an investment in your workforce it’s also a cost-effective way to grow talent. Government funding is available to cover up to 100% of training costs, depending on the size of your business. Even large employers only contribute 5% of the training cost through the Apprenticeship Levy.

Beyond funding, the real value lies in developing loyal, skilled employees who are trained to meet your specific business needs. Apprentices bring energy, commitment, and fresh perspectives helping you fill skills gaps, boost productivity, and future-proof your workforce.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes! Apprenticeships are a great way to upskill your current team and funding is available to support it. If you’re a smaller employer (with a pay bill under £3 million), the government will fund 95% of the training costs, and you only contribute 5%. In many cases, additional incentives or full funding may apply. Larger employers can use their Apprenticeship Levy to fund training for existing staff across all levels, including leadership.

The Apprenticeship Levy is a government initiative to fund apprenticeship training. If your business has an annual payroll over £3 million, you’re required to contribute 0.5% of your wage bill into the levy. These funds go into a digital account and can be used to pay for apprenticeship training including upskilling your existing staff. You have 24 months to use your funds before they expire, so it’s smart to make the most of them.

Yes by law, all apprentices must spend at least 20% of their paid working hours on “off-the-job” training. This doesn’t always mean they’re out of the workplace; it can include structured learning, workshops, online modules, or shadowing as long as it’s relevant to their apprenticeship and different from their day-to-day duties. We work with you to plan this flexibly so it fits around your business operations while supporting the apprentice’s success.

In most cases, the only cost to employers is the training contribution which can be as little as 5% of the total cost (or fully funded if you’re eligible). There are no hidden fees. You’ll continue to pay your apprentice’s wage, just like any employee. Some programmes may require things like uniforms or professional memberships, but we’ll always make that clear upfront. We’re here to help you understand exactly what’s involved no surprises.
Yes, most apprenticeships include an End-Point Assessment (EPA) — a final assessment to confirm the apprentice is fully competent in their role. This might involve a professional discussion, practical task, or written test, depending on the standard. Throughout the programme, we provide structured learning and regular reviews to make sure your apprentice is fully prepared. There may also be functional skills exams in English and maths if they haven’t already achieved the required level.
